Windows 10 Mobile to bypass networks for updates

One of the most annoying things for mobile users who are locked into a network is having to wait for the network to approve and test each an every update the phone’s manufacturer rolls out. This can sometimes add months of delay for people.

Well now at least for Windows 10 mobile users it now appears Microsoft have started to bypass networks and deliver the updates direct to device. Terry Myerson head of Windows and Devices tweeted the below which for US AT&T users at least meant their Windows 10 devices getting the update. Of course Microsoft will still decide what countries get it and when but this is good news for users.

One bit of bad news however is that if Microsoft have not cleared this with networks then networks may well decide to stop stocking Windows devices.
