Update: Spotify continues Windows Phone 8.x support

Update: It seems that Spotify for Windows Phone 8.x devices will not be killed off after all with an official response from the company saying:

To clarify our recent information regarding the Windows Phone experience, we will continue supporting the Windows Phone 8.1 experience moving forward and we are actually improving our support for Windows 10 in our coming update 5.2, which will be available starting today.

So good news for all those with Windows Phone 8 devices, they also said you can sign up to show your interest in a Windows 10 Mobile version here.

Spotify have confirmed to one user on Twitter that they are ending all support for Microsoft’s failing mobile OS Windows Phone 8.x as seen in this tweet.

We can confirm Windows Phone 8.x is no longer supported. You can still use our Spotify application on the associated devices, but it will no longer receive any further updates and download the application. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Spotify also notes that as of right now the do not have a plan or a release date for the Windows 10 Mobile version although it is fairly safe to say that will come.

Users can still use the app as of right now and download it for the moment but you better be quick before it’s pulled and you will also not receive any further updates for it.
