Review: MusicMan Sound Glasses
Two versions, the BT-X58 and BT-X59
Technaxx have launched two MusicMan new audio sunglasses available for fashion and sports, the Sound Glasses Elegance BT-X58 and Sound Glasses Sports BT-X59.
Both products combine the protection and style of premium sunglasses, as well as functionality and performance of wireless headphones with some smart features, all in one gadget for affordable price.
That’s the sell anyway and for the most part these glasses succeed in their USP.
Design
Design wise the glasses come in the sporty and elegant style of BT-X59 for Sports and the BT-X58 for Elegance which you see in this review more for the ladies.
The plastic built of the glasses is certainly study if a little uninspiring but serves its purpose well. While I can see these used more for just perhaps on walks or adventures I would not really see people wearing them as their main set of sunglasses. Having showed some family the response what a little muted in terms of the style.
Features
Both styles feature polarized lenses and the implemented 2-way sound system ensures good stereo sound from the 1-Watt speakers which are built into the arms of the glasses.
Sound quality was decent but loudness was the major problem here, while I could crank up the volume and hear pretty well, the problem was that so could anyone else around me. In order for those people not to hear the audio the sound had to be quite low, which means it would rule these out for using while walking or on a bike ride.
In the arms of the glasses are volume controls and a port for USB charging the 220mAh battery. Speaking of the battery it lasted about 4 hours in my test but the glasses were not quite fully charged so I believe the 5 hours use time.
The glasses are IPX4 rated so using in the rain or splashing water on them should be no issue. Both styles come with a case to protect them while travelling or for storage.
Conclusion
While these glasses certainly wont suit everyone’s style tastes they should prove quite useful for many people.
