Google announces Google Photos

We’ve known it was coming, in fact much of Google Photos was already built into the Google+ app but now Google has launched their new ‘Google Photos’ app as a standalone app. Google Photos is based on the premise of Security, Organization and Sharing.

The new app will allow you to edit your photos in the app, organize and share and thanks to clever machine learning the app will learn faces and objects within the images. Google says you can now backup and store unlimited, high-quality photos and videos, for free. Photos can be stored up to 16MP and videos at a max of 1080P.

There will also be a photo ‘Assistant’ that will help you search for your photos, so no need to tag or create photo albums.

Google Photos will be hitting Android and iOS app stores over the next few hours.
