Forget VR, Hololens really will change our lives

Microsoft’s upcoming Hololens is not really intended for the masses just yet but more for designers, developers, artists and people of that ilk. However it is the first stepping stones into a new age of digital and augmented real life technology.

One fantastic new example of this that Microsoft have just show off is called Holoportation. Imagine sitting in your living room and having a member of your family who is on the other side of the world sit down next to you. Imagine interacting with your kids while at work, then imagine shrinking them down so they fit on your desk.

Holoportation is the science fiction tech that we have always wanted. Check out the demo below but keep in mind we are a few years off being able to buy this but everything you see is running in real time. The camera has a Hololens tracker on it, this enables us to see.

As you will see on the video, everything can be played back at a later date to give you a true real life memory.
